Rich True

Hi my name is Rich True, I’m 27 years old and am from the United States. I’ve been practicing martial arts since I was six years old and have been involved in several different arts including Ninjutsu, Karate, Boxing, Kung Fu and Wrestling. I love martial arts and was inspired at a young age by Bruce Lee and his Nunchaku. I’ve switched styles and schools numerous times to better my understanding of the martial arts as a whole, but one thing that has remained constant is my passion for Nunchaku. In early 2007 I was searching martial arts videos on YouTube, and a video of Master Lee Barden using the Nunchaku popped up. The name of the video was “The greatest Nunchaku guy of all time”. With a title like that my expectations were immediately raised, and I admit I was a bit skeptical. The video was only 2 minutes long but those 2 minutes changed my life forever. I had never seen anything like what Lee was doing. He was doing stuff that I had never thought possible with Nunchaku, and to my surprise he was actually a master at combat as well. I watched every video I could and soon found myself buying his DVDs. I came to find out that Lee is a master of Lissajous Do Ryu, and even makes his own style of Nunchaku called “ProChux” (He didn’t create ProChux and never made such a claim, he is just the man that brought them to the world. What good does something do if it just sits around in someone’s garage!) After watching Lee’s first DVD’s and talking to him on the phone I felt I had a better understanding of the martial arts as a whole. He went out of his way to help me understand everything, and even provided me with some much needed insight. I have found Lee Barden’s methods most helpful. The adaptability is amazing. Over the last year or two I have got to know Lee very well. He is an amazing martial artist, but more importantly a wonderful human being. He has proven to be a great friend and I can honestly say that it is a true honor to know him. He is wise beyond his years, and .has been a positive influence on my martial arts and my character.
